This is everything that often works for me; however, we’re all different, and this may not work for you. It comes with time, and many, many period catastrophes, to even remotely get used to what’s happening and what to do about it. As exciting as it sounds, it’ll be part of your routine, and you’ll develop your own system and tips.
Side note: if you don’t have a sanitary product on you, do not let it ruin your fun! You can fold up a bunch of toilet paper and use it like a pad. Been there, done that, it works. Just make sure to check it more regularly than you would if you were using a tampon or pad, etc.
Another side note: no one can see the pad (or toilet paper) when they’re walking behind you. I wholeheartedly promise.
There’s also plenty of advice on the Be Prepared Period website.
